Zac, Drugs, & Some Mid 90's Rock-n-Roll

Today was the colonoscopy. Troy and I both woke up early, laid in bed and let our thoughts wander through the upcoming day.

"Whatcha thinking about?" he asked, scratching my back. He knows I love having my back scratched - second only to having my feet tickled and rubbed. This morning though, my feet are clear down there and my back is much closer.

He's being sweet, wondering where my thoughts are going. Am I worried about what the scope will find? Am I nervous? How's my foot? Do I feel okay? Do I want a blessing?

"Cafe Rio. I want Cafe Rio afterwards."

That's what I woke up thinking about. Sure, I had to go to the hospital and have a scope up my hiney, but it the end (HA!) it's still about the food.

At 8am, I had to do another three doses of the laxative to finish prepping. That curbed my hunger - but left me feeling a little weak. By the time we got to the hospital, I was feeling kind of punchy - like when your brain is sleep deprived. Mine was food deprived.

We went into the waiting room and you'll never believe who was there...

Zac Efron!!! I have the BIGGEST CRUSH on him.
I can't even tell you how thrilled I was to have him there.

Into the gown and waiting. Zac came with me. He's supportive like that.

Can we take this magazine home? He makes me happy.

My nurse Annie gave me the absolute best IV I have ever had.
I thought she was just drawing blood, it hurt so little.

I have to watch.

This is Chris, the technician. He's much nicer than he looks - he was just wondering why Troy was taking his picture.

See that long, black thing hanging there? That's the scope.

And this is Doctor P. He's super nice, funny, and totally down with the blog thing.
He even had a few things to say:

"Tell everyone to make sure they have a doctor who will do a thorough scope. A little two minute look isn't good enough. This is important, so have it done right."

and

"Tell them that Hootie and the Blowfish was playing when we started."

He just wanted you to know.

Annie then pushed a syringe into my IV with the most magical of drug combos: Fentanyl and Versed. Dr. P. told me to roll over on my left side and then I swear he clapped his hands together and said something to Annie like "Let's do this!", as he kind of moved to the music. I was floating...floating (I love that feeling!)...and gone. I felt nothing, I remember nothing.

The whole thing took about 35 minutes.
Sweet, sweet drugs.

Oh, it's over?
Can't.........wake........

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. p.

I don't remember taking the gown off.
I'm thinking of something good...maybe my Cafe Rio pork salad?

Nope. I just wanted Zac back in my arms.
Tell me he isn't the cutest boy you've ever seen.

Oh, and this is the one polyp that Dr. P. found. He cut that bad boy outta there and sent it to the lab. He says not to worry.
We headed home and I napped for the rest of the afternoon. When I woke up...

Okay...THIS is the cutest MAN I've ever seen.
He is the one who really makes me happy.

It's true love.

Honestly...I'm laughing, and yet I'm a little grossed out at the same time.

Who was taking your picture when you zonked out? Did Troy just take them right before or after -or did he watch the whole procedure??!

Glad things went well, and you ended up with your pork salad.

Zac Efron looks like he's 12. And apparently his girlfriend had some nudie photos leak out already. So much for the stars of High School Musical 2 maintaining their innocence for long. It was only a matter of time.

Sure glad the men in your life make you happy. ;)

Troy took all the pix. The ones where I'm sleeping were right when I was wheeled out - Troy didn't watch the scope.

With this kind of anesthsia, they could ask me questions and I could answer, or they'd tell me to do something and I could do it. Troy says I asked if I could hold Zac again.

Yeah, the naughty pix of the Disney star showed up. Disney is backing her up, she's apologized, etc. Silly girl. Zac should know that I would never do something like that.

Wendy, I cannot believe you watch the needle going into your body! I can't do it!! I don't actually mind needles and IV's and all of that stuff...I just can't watch!!

I'm glad it's all over and that you are able to eat REAL food (it doesn't get more real than Cafe Rio!). I'm glad that Zac and Troy were there for you!! Now just get that foot thing taken care of!!!

Glad your ok and this is all over and done with. The whole clean out had to be the worse part for you *shutter* Being semi-unconscious always helps with these little things.

I am sooo glad you are fine and they got rid of the hitchhicker polyp. Now how many years 'til the next one? J/k. Anyway you look great after a proceedure like that.

I need to quit reading your posts current to oldest. I read your cleansing post whilst eating my lunch. Great job!

Unfortuntately, now I am even more scared to have one. I still have a few more years, don't I? I am proud that I am current on my lady visits and the dentist.

Loved the pictures showing your love for Zac. My advice - don't send him any nude photos. They'll wind up on the internet.

It's pretty sad that we had to tell Madisen & Ashby to make sure that they don't google anything to do with HSM2.

I am glad that everything went well with your colonoscopy. Since they found something, do you have to go in another 5-6 years, or sooner? Hopefully not sooner.

I'm so glad you had Zac to get you through it. Oh, and your husband too, I guess.

The salad looked so good! Cafe Rio should give anyone a discount who had a colonoscopy that day..."FREE MEAL!"

Thanks for the good wishes everyone.

I should hear back about my one lone polyp within a week, but even if it is nothing, I will still have to have another scope in 5 years - just because of the family history.

The colonoscopy itself was a BREEZE - so if you are nervous about getting one, please don't be. The prep was the worst part, and unless you record it all on the internet (like, who would do that???), it's all done in the privacy of your own home. It wasn't painful or crampy, just made me cranky, hungry, and it's a bit inconvenient and um, gross.

The drugs were awesome - what other procedures can I have done just so I can get the drugs?

But seriously, take care of your colon - it's the only one you'll ever have.

I am the opposite of wahwee, I think I can handle it now. Actually, after my heart cath and surgery, holy crap this would be a breeze! I need to get mine done asap! FYI Wahwee you actually shouldn't wait - based on Nat's research we are all major at risk! I am so proud of you wendy! I love the picture chronology, it's great! You are lucky - when I had my heart cath, Tom went home! Bastard. It was kind of cool to see the polyp, it looks like a pimple. Zac is SO cute, but sometimes his smile looks like he's retarded, but still cute as heck. I am really pissed about the girls nudie pictures. WHY WHY WHY do they do it? It ALWAYS comes back to haunt them. idiots!! I wish disney wouldn't have backed her up. their audience is impressionable kids for crap sake!

SugarB, geez, it sounds like you've had some major medical things happening! I hope all is well now - sounds like good material for your blog - which I love, by the way.

And really, you sisters are at risk?? Don't wait any longer! I'll be the escort if anyone needs one.

O.K. I have to tell you that when you first posted this I called my husband right away and asked, "Doesn't Cafe Rio sound good?"

I love your candid thoughts. My husband is also now an avid reader of your blog as well! I love it all!
